Google Plus Family Forest®

For a wealth of free history lessons for you or your children, here’s the simple search formula. Google “Family Forest” + __________  = engaging stories from A People-Centered Approach To History®.

Of course we believe that these stories are much more fun and enriching if you have full access to the Family Forest® National Treasure to follow the curiosity these stories are sure to generate, but these stories are great history starters on their own.

For instance, if you are looking for stories about a history event, like the 4th of July, try Googling “Family Forest” (in quotes) + signer. Or substitute in place of signer a word or phrase such as american revolution, or declaration, or independence, or tea party, or ticonderoga, or inventor.

Other history event suggestions are “Family Forest” (in quotes) + alamo, civil war, gettysburg, world war, world war II, pearl harbor, or flight.

As you can see in the previous examples, you can search for specific places. Try Googling “Family Forest” (in quotes) + a place such as hawaii, hi, texas, tx (or any of the other state names or their two-digit postal abbreviation), america, england, ireland, rome (or many other country names), jamestown, plymouth, big bear, boston, or many other key American and European cities.

You can search for specific historical figures. Try Googling “Family Forest” (in quotes) + constantine, charlemagne, milesius, solomon, longshanks, robert I, wright brothers, rockefeller, george washington, adams, jefferson, abraham lincoln, general grant, kaiulani, macarthur, patton, etc.

You can search for general themes. try Googling “Family Forest” (in quotes) + ancestors, ancestral, ancestry, ancestral history, maps, explore, genealogy, charts, cousins, progeny, heros, veterans, baseball, texas ranger, bible, senator, governor, mayflower, first lady, white house, celebrity, history, congress, obama, kerry, bush, sarah palin, royal, royalty, king, queen, prince william, kate middleton, bill gates, etc.

You can search for Hollywood and entertainment related history. Try Googling “Family Forest” (in quotes) + a word or name such as television, tv, radio, movie, gunsmoke, hollywood, oscar, golden globes, academy awards, saturday night live, tcm, brooke shields, sarah jessica parker, wdytya, ted danson, meryl streep, braveheart, star trek, john adams, tom hanks, tudors, ken burns, marilyn monroe, paris hilton, britney spears, kevin bacon, susan sarandon, julia child, madonna, buffett, etc.

There are also corporate starters to history. Try Googling “Family Forest” (in quotes) + google, yahoo, disney, microsoft, tnt, amazon.com, hbo, cbs, nbc, or imdb.

Every parent who wants to inspire their children to be smarter and do better in school should give them full access to the Family Forest® National Treasure.

The Family Forest® is also inspirational and enriching for the whole family. Here’s a link to some short videos to show some of the possibilities.

Hint: If you do not want to spend time searching use this page http://familyforest.com/archives.html as a starting point, then follow the links in these stories.

Meg Whitman Narrowly Beats Rival in A Related Contest

After the Family Forest® Project revealed to me that California gubernatorial hopeful Meg Whitman is related to former Alaska Governor and possible 2012 Presidential candidate Sarah Palin (they are 8th cousins once removed through common ancestors Rev. Joseph and Elizabeth (Bulkeley) Emerson, who are also ancestors of Hollywood super star Matt Damon), just for fun I began comparing their kinship reports to see how closely the two of them are related to other politicians, celebrities, and historical figures.

The Family Forest® shows that in the overall results of a number of relationship comparisons I looked at, Meg Whitman narrowly wins over Sarah Palin.

By a very narrow margin, Palin does win against Whitman in their relationship to AC/360 host Anderson Cooper. Palin is an 8th cousin once removed of Cooper while Whitman is a 9th cousin of Cooper.

There is a similar win for Palin in the two politicians’ relationships to President Obama. Palin is a 10th cousin of the President, while Whitman is an 11th cousin of the President, and Palin also wins against Whitman in their relationship to New York Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr., 9C vs. 9C3R.

In their relationships to five other business moguls, Palin wins two of the five, one is a tie, while Whitman wins the other two.

Palin is a 9C3R of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates while Whitman is a 10C2R, and Palin is a 16C3R of Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos while Whitman is a 17C4R.

AOL founder Steve Case is the tie at 9C2R.

Whitman is a bit closer to Warren Buffett at 9C1R, while Palin is a 9C2R to the Sage of Omaha. Whitman is quite a bit closer to Walt Disney at 7C2R, while Palin is a 9C2R to the founder of the Disney kingdom.

There are a number of Hollywood ties, including TCM co-host Alec Baldwin (8C1R cousin once removed), “Seabiscuit” racing announcer William H. Macy (9C1R),  Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges (10C1R), rising star Amy Adams (10C1R), and documentary filmmaker Ken Burns (18C).

Palin beat Whitman in their relationships to Hollywood icon Katharine Hepburn (7C2R vs. 8C1R), “Hereafter” star Matt Damon (7C1R vs. 9C) and “Hereafter” director Clint Eastwood (10C vs. 10C1R), distant cousin Brad Pitt (16C1R vs. 17C), and very very distant cousin Keanu Reeves (47C5R vs. 47C6R).

Whitman wins most dramatically over Palin in many other relationships in the Hollywood arena. These are “I Love Lucy” star Lucille Ball (7C vs. 9C1R), Hollywood icon Humphrey Bogart (8C1R vs. 9C2R), Oscar-winner Jodie Foster (9C vs. 9C1R), President John Adams portrayer Paul Giamatti (9C vs. 10C), “True Grit” villain Josh Brolin (9C1R vs. 11C1R), “Who Do You Thinks You Are?” subjects Brooke Shields (910C1R vs. 10C1R) and Sarah Jessica Parker (9C3R vs. 18C3R), “24” star Keifer Sutherland (10C vs. 19C1R), Oscar-winner Meryl Streep (10C vs. 10C1R), “Big C” star Laura Linney (11C3R vs. 14C1R), singer/actress Hilary Duff (11C2R vs. 14C), and distant cousins and “How Do You Know” co-stars Reese Witherspoon (19C3R vs. 20C3R cousin) and Jack Nicholson  (17C3R vs. 18C4R), and Oscar-winner Tom Hanks (19C vs. 20C).

Whitman scores 1-1 with Palin against two CBS news anchors, Walter Cronkite (11C1R vs. 9C1R) and Katie Couric (11C2R vs. 14C).

The two politicians’ relationships also tied against Prince William and Prince Harry at 9th cousin once removed.

Whitman beat Palin again against Mark Twain (6C3R vs. 10C4R) and Julia Child (7C1R vs. 8C2R).

All of these results were computer-generated on October 19, 2010 from the vast network of generation-by-generation family ties assembled in the Family Forest®.

Bill Gates’ Misstatement

Bill Gates probably didn’t mean it exactly the way it sounded, but he did say on The Charlie Rose Show that “Everything is web-based.”

Everything is not web-based yet, and here’s one example that relates to cousin Bill personally, and quite possibly professionally.

Bill can give his children an enriching digital edutainment gift of potentially limitless value for just $50, and he cannot acquire anything similar to it now from Microsoft, or Google, at any price. This gift cannot be explored online – yet.

But offline, with just a few mouse-clicks in the Family Forest® Bill and Melinda Gates’ children can summon maps of their own ancestral pathways that lead directly from them and travel generation-by-generation to countless ancestral homes from many centuries ago, including some very prominent ones within the Gates family’s summer vacation destination, France.

Even with the basically unlimited resources of Microsoft, or Google, it seems that it will still be years before anyone can deliver the full functionality of even yesterday’s Family Forest® online (and that edition is basically only a concept sketch of the National Treasure Edition we are preparing to release next).

Two leading edge digital delivery companies have been trying to bring tiny slivers of Family Forest® output online.

Google has been working at it for over four months now, and they are not quite there yet (in fairness to Google, one is believed to be the world’s longest ebook). After having the same digital content for six months, in June 2008 ebrary estimated that it might be able to successfully make our rich content fully functional online within their system in the second half of 2009. And we’re only talking about slivers of stage-two digital content from where we were in 2005.

Some digital property, such as the Family Forest®, is beyond the capabilities of today’s Internet, but will be an integral part of the exciting future Internet that Bill talks about with Charlie Rose.

Sarah Palin is related to who?

While watching Sarah Palin and Alec Baldwin talking together Saturday night on SNL I couldn’t help wondering if they had any idea they are related to each other. Even though they are fairly distant cousins, because their first ancestral connection is back in the Royal Channel according to recorded history, they do actually share ancestors with each other.

We ran some outline reports of immigrant ancestors from the Family Forest® to see who else shares ancestors with Gov. Sarah Palin. There are some of her surprising family ties in the Thomas Emerson report (see PDF here. family-forest-outline-report-for-thomas-emerson), and more of them can be found in the other reports (William Arnold, Deacon Samuel Bass, Thomas Brigham, Zechariah/Zachariah Field, Surgeon John Greene, Stephen Post, Richard Sears, and Corporal Roger Wellington), which are available upon request.

Following are some tips for exploring the Thomas Emerson report. Sarah Palin: page 55

Hawaiian family ties

Cooke family of Bank of Hawaii, Molokai Ranch, etc.: pages 4-25

Waterhouse and Alexander families of Alexander and Baldwin: page 7

Atherton family of Atherton Foundation: page 8

Monty Richards family of Kahua Ranch: page 13

Cowell family of Kowali Farm: page 16

Other family ties (both for Sarah Palin, and also for her Hawaiian cousins)

Ford and Firestone heirs: page 2

Mitt Romney: page 37

Buffalo Bill Cody: page 41

President Taft: page 34

Astronaut Alan Shepard: pages 54-55

Famous Civil War Generals: page 57

Tennessee Williams: page 58

F. Scott Fitzgerald and Shirley Temple: page 59

President Fillmore: page 63

Bill Gates: page 67

Please keep in mind when exploring this outline report that it is only one tiny snap shot from the Family Forest®, and it’s much more fun to explore these connections visually via the disc.

Family Forest® Casting Call

Millisecond Publishing Company, Inc. (MPC) is looking for celebrity spokespersons to internationally introduce the upcoming Family Forest® Hollywood Edition.

The ideal candidates will be those who regularly appear in international print and broadcast media as instantly recognized celebrities, who are welcome guests on Oprah, Larry King Live, The Charlie Rose Show and others, and who are already very extensively networked through actual family ties to a large number of everyday people in the Family Forest®.

This role should be fun and personally rewarding, and when millions of people discover the staggering amount of their own early ancestral history that has already been assembled by the Family Forest® Project, this performance will be as easy as leading a parade just by stepping out in front of it and walking in the same direction. Plus the affiliation will simultaneously promote the spokespersons’ own projects.

Here are our top twelve choices at this time, not necessarily in priority order.

Tom Hanks (and maybe his relatively close cousin, Oscar-winner Sissy Spacek): Almost as important as his superstar status, Tom’s personal passion for history, as can be seen in his interview concerning the John Adams mini-series, and his own family ties to the Da Vinci Code make him a perfect Family Forest® spokesperson. In addition, his production company Playtone can benefit from the ancestral marketing opportunities the Family Forest® provides.

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick: In addition to being a famous husband and wife team who are both extensively networked through actual family ties in the Family Forest®, Kevin’s “Six Degrees of Separation” fame is shorthand for the concept that we are all connected. The Family Forest® illustrates this concept using genealogy, and both Kevin and Kyra can be hubs for these surprising webs of connections.

Prince William and/or Prince Harry: The Family Forest® can show far more of the ancestral history of the British Royal Family with just a few mouse-clicks than any other digital resource, and it connects Prince William and Prince Harry personally through family ties to everyday people throughout the world. We believe this is a project

Princess Diana would be very proud to have her sons champion.

Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece and his family: The excellent photograph and article in the February 2008 issue of Vanity Fair, coupled with their very extensive ancestral history already mapped out in the Family Forest®, make them a picture postcard perfect family to promote the Family Forest® and its usefulness to school students.

Richard Gere and Uma Thurman: The Tibet and world peace efforts between

Uma’s father and Richard can make them a great team to introduce the world to the world’s largest maps of human migration, and the resulting conclusion that we are all much closer related than common knowledge has been teaching.

Madonna: Although the Family Forest® does not yet lineage-link her into the

Royal Channel, Madonna’s son Rocco is of known royal descent according to recorded history. The enriching benefits of personally connecting schoolchildren personally to human history is a theme Madonna could excellently convey.

Jimmy Buffett and his “Uncle” Warren Buffett: Jimmy’s words are true, “Everybody’s Got A Cousin in Miami,” and the Family Forest® shows why. A team of two old friends representing both the entertainment world as well as mainstream America will help show that the Family Forest® bridges many interest areas.  Plus, when the patterns of human genetic migration become better known, as the Family Forest® will teach, it will be obvious that Warren and Jimmy are actually related very very much closer than reported by 23andMe.

Paris Hilton: Similar to “When E. F. Hutton talks, people listen,” when Paris does anything, people pay attention. This can be a perfect opportunity for Paris to use her media power constructively for a noble purpose.

David McCullough: Listening to his interview by Charlie Rose, it is obvious that David McCullough has one of the best intuitive grasps on the concept of A People-Centered Approach To History®, and his readers can use the Family Forest® to increase their enjoyment of his books.

Elvis and the Presley Girls: The “King of Rock” is shown to be descended from historic kings in the Family Forest®, and he is now networked through family ties to ancestors of millions of his fans. His wife, Dancing With The Stars contestant Priscilla Presley, and her daughter Lisa Marie Presley, can utilize the Family Forest® Hollywood Edition to promote the exciting new renovations and expansion at Graceland.

Sam Waterston: His portrayal of a deep thinking, caring, and very believable person in Mindwalk, bolstered by his performance in Law and Order, made him an ideal spokesman for T.D. Waterhouse, and can also make him an ideal spokesman for the Family Forest® Project.

Icons from the Past: Similar to the technique Steve Martin used so effectively in

Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, past Hollywood stars such as Bogart, Hepburn, and others such as the collection represented by CMG, can still perform today. Historical clips from icons who are no longer with us can be used strategically to allow them perform again today as excellent Family Forest® spokespersons.

We also welcome inquires from all of the many other celebrities who fit the criteria above.

Some of those more extensively networked living celebrities already lineage-linked in the Family Forest® include Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Clint Eastwood, Robert Duval, Ted Danson, Matthew Fox, Ron Howard, Halle Berry, George Clooney, Jody Foster, Willie Nelson, Britney Spears, Cher, Brooke Shields, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts and Eric Roberts, Hugh Grant, Cindy Crawford, Jamie Lee Curtis, Bridget Fonda and Jane Fonda, Anderson Cooper, Kate Hudson, Kurt Russell, Sarah Ferguson, Oliver Platt, Rene Auberjonois, Denise Crosby, Wil Wheaton, Catherine Oxenberg and Casper Van Dien, Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson, Michael Douglas, Dick Clark, Don Imus, Andy Griffith, David Hyde Pierce, Eddie Vedder, Christopher Lloyd, George Hamilton, Matthew Perry, Viggo Mortensen, Liza Minnelli, Garry Trudeau, Marie Osmond and Donny Osmond, Grace Slick, David Crosby, The Beach Boys, Joanne Woodward, Raquel Welsh, Sigourney Weaver, Governor and Mrs. Schwarzenegger, Rachel Ward, Dick Van Dyke, The Baldwin Brothers, and Bill Gates.

Family Forest applauds HouseFront

As the recent article at Realty Times called Behind the Curtains of Celebrity Homes shows, the fine folks at Housefront.com are also delivering one of the same services that the Family Forest® Project delivers.

HouseFront is connecting particular individuals (in this case celebrities) to a specific place (their homes) in time, now.

The Family Forest® Project is connecting particular individuals (celebrities, as well as everyday people) to a specific place in time, most often in the past, and sometimes many centuries ago.

These two services can be used together to find interesting connections between the homes of present day celebrities and historical figures from the past, or possibly to see maps and photographs of some of the homes your own ancestors lived in a century or three ago.

For instance, explorers in the newest Family Forest® can see the generation-by-generation family ties connecting three owners of celebrity homes from the top ten list (or four, if  Paris Hilton is counted twice, as she is on the list) to the builder/owner of Briquebec Castle, as well as to each other. The other two Briquebec Descendants are Bill Gates and Dick Cheney.

Or a similar generation-by-generation ancestral pathway can be seen from the 1959 owner of 1000 North Roxbury Drive, Beverly Hills, CA, Lucille Ball, to the builder/owner of Briquebec Castle.

HouseFront.com is a great online resource for Family Forest® explorers, as well as other genealogy researchers.
